We make a difference! nPromoting safe living and working environments.nWhat youu2019ll learn & achieve:nEmergo by UL's HFR&D team is an industry leader in providing user research, design support, usability testing, evaluation, and human factors training services to its clients. Many leading medical device, pharmaceutical, and health product manufacturers rely upon our services to produce safe and satisfying products. Our work involves the research, design, and evaluation of the user interfaces of medical devices, pharmaceutical devices, diagnostic systems and laboratory instruments. Our research and design portfolio include products and systems such as robotic surgical systems, imaging devices, autoinjectors, inhalers, ventilators, mobile medical apps, laboratory instruments and infusion pumps. Our portfolio of work also includes non-medical products such as consumer products, automotive diagnostic tools and training, and software applications.n nYour role on our team:nAs a Human Factors Intern with Emergo by ULu2019s HFR&D team, you will explore the relationship between human beings and the systems they use. By applying principles of psychology, engineering and more, youu2019ll seek to understand the challenges users currently face when interacting with a product and identify opportunities to improve its safety, efficiency and ease of use. For products further along in development, you might plan and conduct tests to confirm the product can be used safely and effectively by its intended users and for its intended uses. n nYour specific responsibilities might include the following tasks:nn Supporting usability testing, field research, individual interviews, and group interviewsn Potentially driving to other nearby US cities to conduct researchn Assisting with the development of deliverables including usability test plans, data collection materials, usability test reports, risk analyses, user profiles, task analyses, and Human Factors Engineering (HFE) reportsn Analyzing quantitative and qualitative data to help evaluate client user interface designs.n Assisting in preparing client deliverables by reviewing test results and providing solutions to identified improvement areasn Coordinating participant recruitment for individual or group usability testingn Supporting the preparation of Investigational Review Board (IRB) submissionsn Preparing the laboratory for in-person usability testingn Ensuring products have a consistent and cohesive user experiencen Performing other duties as directednnWhat makes you a great fit:nQualifications:nn Classes in Human Factors Engineering or a related discipline, such as Psychology, Experience/Interaction Design, Industrial Engineering, or Biomedical Engineeringn Ability to communicate and present effectivelyn Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced, collaborative work environment.n UL has COVID-19 protocols and policies in place to ensure the safety of our employees, customers, and clients.
