Job Summary:
The intern will be integrated in a multi-disciplinary team that develops measurement-equipment to detect defects in the barrier between oil-wells and the surrounding rock, preventing potential catastrophic events.
SRPC designs and manufactures ultrasonic tool to control the integrity of boreholes and cased wells. In the last years a significant effort has been made to introduce Phased-Array technology in such controls. The business ambition is to enlarge the measurements portfolio in order to improve the efficiency of the existing controls.
The internship aims to analyze & compare different packaging options of the ultrasonic sensor by focusing on the interaction between the front-face and the ultrasonic sensor that it protects.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties:
The candidate should compare different front-face material candidates and establish a thorough series of tests/theorectical analysis/simulations to support his arguments:
i. Soft metal option (to cooperate with mechanical metier)
ii. Heat Shrink PEEK
iii. Heat Shrink FEP and PTFE
iv. Rubber
The comparison will be focusing on:
i. Manufacturability, Sensor performance & Reliability
ii. Sealing effectiveness
iii. Useful life & Maintenance strategy
Qualification:
Master’s degree – 2nd year or final year of Engineering School
Competencies:
Solid strain & stress analysis
basic knowledge on different material properties (metal, elastomere)
Mechanical simulation on solid with Abaqus or Ansys
Fluent English speaking & writing
Mechanical CAO experience (Catia, Solidworks or Creo)
