Cloud Engineering Internship

Design and develop software for the **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. Cloud Infrastructure
Design and develop services for providing distributed, scalable, secure, and easy-to-use Virtual Machine and hypervisor control-plane
Develop expertise in multiple areas of the stack:  Hypervisor, control plane, resource management, and orchestration. These areas are largely responsible for the different cloud resources lifecycle management, managing compute resources, REST API, and interfacing with the AHV hypervisors with High Availability guarantees. Some of the responsibilities of the team include:
Virtual Machine Lifecycle management
Dynamic Scheduler: Initial placement and Load Balancing
API, CLI, AHV hypervisor API
VM mobility within and across **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. clusters
Work alongside development, test, documentation, and product teams to deliver high-quality products in a fast-paced environment
Deliver on an internship project over the course of the program. Present the final product to engineering leadership
Each intern is paired with a Member of Technical Staff who serves as a guide/mentor through our engineering culture, toolsets, and development methodology. Our internship program also includes a series of lunch and learns, soft-skill workshops, Intern hack-a-thon, and social gatherings (virtual or in-person where permitted) to expose you to other aspects of a rapidly growing technology company.

Your Role
Design and develop new Python, Java, and/or Golang-based services to manage cloud-scale networking solutions.
Leverage and contribute to existing open source/cloud-native technologies to solve engineering problems.
Work on complex distributed systems.
Collaborate with a small team of developers, test engineers, and product management.
Participate in the New Hire R&D Bootcamp to gain a high-level understanding of the **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. product suite, various tools, and processes
Participate in U-Hack (**MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. Intern Hack-a-Thon), which is a way to interact with other R&D interns and derive innovative solutions to various roadblocks across the organization
What You’ll Bring
You are pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related engineering field.
Fluency in Golang and/or Python
Knowledge of Linux or other Unix operating systems
Prior experience, coursework, or research in operating systems, distributed systems
Strong systems programming and design skills
Solid understanding of algorithms and data structures, or cloud computing
Interest or experience working with virtualization technologies from VMware, Microsoft (Hyper-V), or Redhat (KVM) preferred
Knowledge of or experience with Cassandra, Zookeeper, or other large-scale distributed systems preferred
Detailed oriented with a strong focus on code and product quality
