When you are thinking about how to present yourself for your interview, make sure you consider how you are going to dress. Dressing too informally can hurt you at interviews for intern jobs, but did you know that dressing too formally can damage matters as well? The more time that you spend consider this and putting your thoughts into effect, the more internship jobs are going to fall into your lap!
No matter what field you are in or what you are looking to do with your internship, make sure that you find the time to research the company. This doesn't just mean that you should make yourself familiar with the company's products, though that is important as well. Instead, what you want to do is to get online and to look over things like their history, services they provide, and their mission. Do you see any photos of the workspace they provide or of real employees? Through undertaking this kind of research, you will have a much better idea of the company that you are working for, and how they would like their employees to present themselves.
If you cannot find any good pictures of the employees of the company that you are working for, you might want to look for other companies that are about the same size, and that work in the same industry. If the company has any sort of social networking hub or if you find that they have a Facebook page, you may discover the information that you need. This might seem like a lot of trouble to take over something, but remember that you are dealing with something that can help you fit in with their corporate culture a great deal more effectively. Take some time and make sure that you consider looking for this information.
Remember that even if you are told that an interview is casual, it does not mean that you can wear whatever you like. Shorts, sneakers, and ripped or dirty clothing are right out, as are things like tank tops or stretch pants. Stay away from anything that you might wear to a club and also make sure that you avoid graphic T-shirts, as this can send a bad message.
Take a moment to think about how you want to dress for your casual interview; it can make all the difference in the world.
