Many companies do their hiring from their internal employees first. If you begin at the bottom and learn all that there is to know about a company, their goals and directives, and their structure you could take this information and use it towards their benefit. You may even find that the upper management team at the new company is made up of people that began their employment just like you, in entry level jobs.
Many people go into entry level jobs with much more experience and education than what is necessary to do the job. They have school and employment history that will provide them with the ability to move up quickly at a new company. They know that if they can only get in the door they will be able to show the employer what they can do.

You should go into the entry jobs with the attitude that you are going to learn all that you can and add that to the knowledge that you gained in school.

You should remember that the Supervisors and Managers of the entry level associates are the ones that will recommend someone for promotions as they come open.
